My Chiropractic Story
My first experience with chiropractic care began when I was a teenager playing sports in western Pennsylvania. After experiencing constant sharp pain in my left foot and ankle during football practice, I was recommended to see a podiatrist by the athletic trainer.
After failed results with cortisone injections and bracing for my ankle, my mom suggested that I attend her next chiropractic appointment to see if her doctor could help.
After a thorough examination, the chiropractor discovered that my ankle was not moving properly and the bone below my ankle (talus bone) was out of alignment. The doc provided a quick thrust to the joint and a loud “pop” occurred, followed by instant relief! I stood up, jumped in place, jogged down the hallway and had zero pain. The symptoms never returned. How could this be? Why didn’t the doctor who specialized in foot and ankle conditions catch this? Why was an injection his first option? I was fascinated with chiropractic care from that point forward. While playing basketball and football, I continued to receive regular adjustments and therapies to deal with the physical demand placed on the body.
At the age of 17, I knew I wanted to continue my education in becoming a chiropractic physician - helping others without drugs or medication. I went on to earn my Bachelor’s degree in Biology; as I felt it would provide the best base of knowledge, combining science and anatomy.
After graduation, I left Pennsylvania for Port Orange, Florida to attend Palmer College of Chiropractic. At age 24, I graduated from Palmer in 2011 and moved across the state to Tampa – where I would begin my journey as a new doctor. Over the past 5 years, I went from an associate chiropractor of a family practice to the clinic director of a multi-disciplinary practice. My love and passion for treating and educating patients by natural, conservative means led me to open North Bay Spine and Rehab in beautiful Lutz, Florida.
Palmer College of Chiropractic is not only where I received my Doctorate – it is also where I met my future wife, Jennifer! Dr. Jennifer Bowser is also a board-certified chiropractic physician who works at the Laser Spine Institute of Tampa. In 2014, Jennifer and I got married in Cancun, Mexico and built our first home the following year in Lutz, Florida. We enjoy going to the gym, being outdoors, going to the beach, traveling and spending time with our dog, Chloe! Being born and raised in Western Pennsylvania, I continue to be a die-hard Pittsburgh sports fan!
Passion for Health & Wellness
As a former athlete involved in Baseball, Football, Basketball and Weight Lifting, I have always had a true passion for sports. With my knowledge of anatomy, physiology, biomechanics and nutrition, I was fortunate enough to work with numerous athletes across all major sports, including:
My dream was to become the “Team Chiropractor” for my beloved Pittsburgh Steelers. However, my time as a preceptor and associate doctor really opened my eyes to the diversity of our profession and what we can offer. I went from a focus and growing knowledge in treating professional, collegiate and Olympic athletes to seeing babies, young children, pregnant woman, grandparents, weekend warriors, and motor vehicle accident victims, daily! I realized that my true passion was not only working exclusively with athletes but to improve the overall health and knowledge of any patient to achieve optimal health. I soon found that helping a child with headaches and asthma, as well as enabling a grandpa to play catch with his grandkids, was just as rewarding as helping an athlete return to the field.
